Abstract

Usual stereoscopic methods of distance measurement use binocular vision for real‐time visual comparison of the apparent distance to the observed object with the distances to the artificial marks entered into the stereoscopically displayed space. However, estimation of the distance to the stereoscopically observed object by eye comparison of its distance to the specific marks can be difficult. The method of accurate measurement of the distances described in this paper is based on visual fixation of zero screen parallax formed on the display as the difference between the natural parallax (with one sign) in the stereoscopic space and the introduced artificial parallax (with opposite sign).
