Abstract

A switching type DC‐DC converter used as a power supply circuit for the IT OLED display requires high power conversion efficiency. However, since both positive power (ELVDD) and negative power (ELVSS) are used for OLED power supply, in terms of power conversion, Efficiency degradation occurs. In particular, in the case of the Inverting Buck Boost converter that generates negative power, it is necessary to improve the power consumption because it is not efficient on topology. In this paper, the newly proposed mode ELVSS conversion circuit is implemented to compare to the general Inverting Buck Boost Converter. It is possible to improve power conversion efficiency. Studies have shown that the overall efficiency of the two converters has been able to improve efficiency by 5.3% in the light load. Consequently, newly developed DC‐DC converters can considerably extend the battery life time for various IT applications.
