Abstract

A new evaluation method of viewing-angle characteristics for liquid-crystal displays (LCDs) with image color difference has been studied. To check the validity of this method, we developed high-precision image display system (HIDS) with feedback mechanism. Optimized mean color difference in CIELAB color space has better correlation (R2 = 0.84) with visual assessment than conventional iso-contrast (R2 = 0.56), using 23 kinds of portrait images which are dependent on TN-LCD viewing angle.
