Abstract

We conduct subjective experiments in real HDR environments. The results suggest that (1) most observers could perceive correct luminance correlations by global adaptation rather than local adaptation, but (2) Weber‐ratios were increased. Our solution is to estimate global tone mapping curves in accordance with the above results. The resulting SDR images offer perceptual reality.
