Abstract

This paper describes a simple system-on-panel architecture implemented on a small size 2.4″ QVGA Poly-Si TFT-LCD. This new algorithm omits the traditional 6-bit digital-to-analog converter and sample and hold unit in typical source driver and replace it by an external 6-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC) including an analog operational amplifier acting as an output buffer. An algorithm that is able to largely reduce the size of panel peripheral and requires only a single power source input. The reduction in the operating frequency of the source driver in dual bank source driver architecture and omission of the interface driver IC is made feasible by this design.
