Abstract

Oxaliplatin-based chemotherapies are widely used in the treatment of gastrointestinal cancers. However, several studies have reported that oxaliplatin-induced sinusoidal obstruction syndrome (SOS)/hepatic veno-occlusive disease (VOD) has occurred, with an incidence of 19% to 78%. SOS/VOD was associated with postoperative morbidity and decreased overall survival. SOS/VOD induced by oxaliplatin lacks specific clinical symptoms, which makes it difficult to diagnose SOS/VOD based on clinical criteria.
