Abstract

AbstractWe have succeeded in obtaining broadband selective reflection over the entire visible spectrum from a single cholesteric liquid crystal layer with a helical pitch gradient. The broadband cholesteric layer is applied to brightness enhancement films for LCD, to decorative films with metallic reflection, and to IR shielding films. The decorative film and the IR shielding film are immune to radio wave for telecommunication.
