Abstract
We studied process optimization for the most important key factor, the pretilt angle, to improve the optical properties while maintaining the main advantages of the polymer‐stabilized vertically aligned liquid crystal display. The optimal condition for the panel with improved optical properties satisfies general optical properties based on a pretilt angle of 1.57 degrees. In the evaluation of major process control factors, process control of ±0.4 V based on 7.9 V, ±0.3 J based on UV condition 4.0 J, and ±0.6 μm process control based on pixel electrode width 3.1 μm is required. Other process conditions have a low influence and can be neglected. Maintaining these conditions, we secured a side CR 550:1 or higher along with a front CR 5000:1.
