Abstract

This study, based upon the histologic examination of 969 radicular cysts, suggests that the vast majority of radicular cysts undergo resolution following conservative endodontic therapy. The mechanism involved in this resolution may be the dissolution of epithelial lining due to the inflammatory exudate. It is suggested that during endodontic therapy instrumentation should be carried slightly beyond the apex.
