Abstract

Volatile anaesthetics can induce preconditioning and have been shown to have cardio-protective properties. OPCAB is a safe model for the study of cardiac damage in humans. Desflurane and other volatile anaesthetics could be administered for 5 to 30 minutes for preconditioning effect [1-3].This study investigated whether a 15 min desflurane administration before revascularization has a cardio-protective effect in patients undergoing OPCAB.
