Abstract

Previous studies focused on the prevalence of sexual urges and behavior had several limitations: considering only a small number of activities, rarely specifying the sex of the sexual partner, and often omitting the individual’s role in the sexual activity (passive or active). The aim of our study was to describe the experience of usual/unusual sexual activities in the Czech population with all these aspects included. Total sample consisted of Czech citizens (3317 men; mean age 33.0/ 3064 women; mean age = 26.6) recruited through a pool of research volunteers, Facebook and newspapers. The on-line questionnaires contained a detailed list of 52 sexual activities (passive/active form of the activity was formulated separately). For each activity, participants indicated the overall activity prevalence (0 never - 100+) and the attractiveness of conducting the activity with the partner (0 not at all attractive – 100 very attractive) High prevalence/attractiveness of behaviors connected with sadomasochistic paraphilic pattern in women was found (42.7% experienced pain caused by the male partner, mean attractiveness 33.7). The results also confirmed high prevalence of oral heterosexual sex (in both passive and active role) across population (all more than 88%) and anal sex when man is in active role (54.4 % women/51.8 % men). A passive role across BDSM activities was found to be more attractive to females, whereas males preferred to be in an active role. For males, group sex was more attractive than for females.
