Abstract
The ozone production was studied using nanosecond pulsed-power systems and a coaxial reactor. Concentration of produced ozone decreased temporally when spark discharges were observed in the coaxial reactor due to curved inner wire electrode. At the same time, the reactor voltage fell down. In order to solve this problem, the tensioned inner wire electrode was adopted to be constant of electrode separation. As a result, the ozone concentration did not decrease and was kept as the peak concentration during pulse application. It was suggested that streamer discharges occurred stably due to restraining spark discharges caused by curve of inner wire electrode. Then, the ozone production efficiencies became constant on energy density because ozone concentrations increased proportionally with increasing energy density. Therefore, in order to obtain higher ozone concentration and stable ozone production, tensioned inner wire electrode of coaxial reactor was required.
