Abstract

In spite of most of them are based on anthropology, many terms have been put forward in the historical process to briefly describe human beings based on the most distinctive features. Homo sapiens, homo erectus and homo faber are the first to come to mind. “Homo ludens” is one of these terms based on the idea that man is a playful creature. According to this view which considers the game to be effective in every aspect of life, there is a very close relationship between the game and culture and all kinds of cultural elements have traces of the game. Such that, it is claimed that the game emerged and shaped culture before culture. In this context, according to the said opinion, the game has a visible power in society. In this study, the film “Saban Pabucu Yarim” which can be defined as a kind of game and elements linked to the game in the orbit of the film will be interpreted in the context of the impact power of the game from the point of view of the person who defines “homo ludens”. Thus, not only in 1985 when it was released but also where a film that could find its audience even today could get an idea about where this power came from and on one aspect of folklore – media relations.
