Abstract

A case of oxyhaemoglobinuria following copper sulphate poisoning has been reported and possible causes evaluated. These are: 1. Massive haemolysis leading to high plasma haemoglobin concentration. 2. Decreased plasma capacity for binding haemoglobin with a resultant increase in free plasma haemoglobin concentration. 3. Decreased renal threshold because of renal damage leading to escape of oxyhaemoglobin in the urine.
