Abstract
Melt textured bulk YBa 2Cu 3O 7−Y 2BaCuO 5 composites have been prepared by using a modified Bridgman method in order to improve its current carrying capacity. In this work we show that the final performances of these materials at high fields depend drastically on the oxygenation process. Due to the large anisotropy of the oxygen diffusion constants the final oxygen distribution depends on the precise microstructure and an accurate annealing process is required in order to avoid the appearance of oxygen-deficient zones due to insufficient oxygenation.
