Abstract

The HASL project data on oxygen-18 variations in atmospheric carbon dioxide are shown to be incorrect. The observed values and their variation with altitude are simply due to isotopic exchange with ground-level moisture included in the samples. The data do provide some indication that the humidity of the stratosphere may be nearly constant above 15 km.
