Harris, M. J. ; Lambert, D. L. ; Smith, V. V. Abstract Harris and Lambert (1984) have reported observations of the O-16/O-17 and O-16/O-18 ratios in several red giant stars. The obtained data may be used as a basis for interpretation of the oxygen isotope ratios in stars which are believed to be further evolved, namely the barium, carbon, and S stars. The present investigation is concerned with the results for a group of classical and mild barium stars. Abundance determinations were made by analysis of high-resolution 2.3 micron spectra. In this spectral region the first overtone vibration-rotation bands of the CO molecule's ground electronic state give rise to a large number of absorption lines, including lines due to the isotopically substituted species (C-13)(O-16), (C-12)(O-17), and (C-12)(O-18). The stars studied include the Ba II stars HD 178717, HD 121447, HD 101013, and HR 774, and the mild barium stars 0 Vir and 16 Ser.
