Abstract
Reducing the discharge of carbon monoxide (CO) and nitrous oxides (NOx) from the cement production process is a continual requirement for many cement manufacturers and often involves very expensive end-of-pipe pollution abatement solutions. The injection of highly reactive hot oxygen (O 2 ) is a new approach to lowering emission requirements or complementing underperforming existing solutions. This article discusses an innovative O 2 lancing technology that cement manufacturers install in the outlet of the kiln or calciner to remove primarily CO from the system.
