Abstract

1. 1. Spectral and elemental analyses of hemocyanin from Archachatina maginata show close similarities to those of molluscan hemocyanin. 2. 2. The oxygen affinity shows a normal Bohr effect with generally low levels of cooperativity. 3. 3. Removal of divalent cations increases oxygen affinity with loss in cooperativity. 4. 4. Divalent cations stabilise the integrity of whole molecules. 5. 5. Alkalinity promotes dissociation of whole molecules.
