Abstract
The influence of atmospheric oxygen on the thermoluminescence of γ-irradiated polyethylene was investigated. The oxygen removes high-temperature peaks in radiothermoluminescence glow curve and introduces a new peak at 140–150 K. The effect of oxygen was more pronounced in polyethylene containing aromatic additives than in solvent soaked polyethylene. Evidences are presented that oxygen peak is due to electron trapping on oxygen molecule.
