AbstractBoth cyclic and acyclic sulfinate esters were labeled with 18O at the sulfinyl oxygen by acid‐catalyzed isotope exchange with H218O or alkaline hydrolysis in H218O followed by re‐esterification. Long‐range 18O isotope effects on the 13C NMR chemical shifts were observed.
