Abstract
Carbon steel is proposed for an engineered barrier for geological disposal of high-level radioactive waste. We investigated the corrosion of carbon steel surrounded by bentonite using an electrochemical method and studied the corrosion mechanism using SEM-EDX and a Raman spectroscopy analytical method.
