Abstract

Background: Quercetin is a well-known flavonoid, which can be found in a variety of plant-based diets and beverages. The interest in quercetin as a functional food ingredient or food supplement is growing due to the presumed beneficial health effects of quercetin in cancer prevention and cardiovascular diseases (Geleijnse et al., 2002; Knekt et al., 1997). Atrazine is a persistent environmental contaminants (soil, water) and the top selling product for the largest chemical company in the world, The Sygenta Crop Protection, US (Hayes, 2004).
