AbstractThe N‐heterocyclic carbene catalyzed [8+2] oxidative annulation of tropone with aldehydes was developed, giving cycloheptatriene‐fused furanones in moderate to good yields. Further reduction of the cycloadducts afforded cycloheptane‐fused furanones and dihydrofuranones in good yields.magnified image
