Abstract
The title reactions are discussed as a pair, one being the reverse of the other. In oxidative addition, the concerted, S N 2, radical and ionic mechanisms are outlined. Reductive elimination goes by the reverse pathways in each case. Related reactions, such as σ-bond metathesis, oxidative coupling, and reductive fragmentation, complete the survey.
