Abstract

Radiolytic oxidation of colloidal semiconductor particles of In 2S 3 ( D p ∼ 15 Å) and In 2Se 3 ( D p ∼ 25 Å) was studied in reactions with OH ḣ, Br h ̇ 2, I h ̇ 2 and (SCN) h ̇ 2 radicals using a pulse-radiolysis technique. The one-electron oxidation of colloids led to bleaching of semiconductor absorption as a result of their decomposition. The rate constants for the reaction of X h ̇ 2 anion radicals with colloidal particles were less than those predicted for the diffusion-controlled reactions and depended on the standard redox potential of the oxidants.
