Abstract

This paper deals with the analysis of the structure of 6-oxogalactose and 6-oxogalactosides obtained from the oxidation reaction catalysed by galactose oxidase. A complete analysis of the 1 H and 13 C NMR spectra showed that 6-oxogalactose and 6-oxogalactosides were mainly present as the hydrate of the monomeric form.
