Abstract
Abstract A variety of metal ions and complexes oxidize CO in aqueous solution through mechanisms that differ in detail but have in common the involvement of an intermediate hydroxycarbonyl complex (MCOOH). Such oxidation reactions can also be incorporated into various catalytic cycles including the homogeneously catalyzed water gas shift reaction.
