Abstract

The simultaneous oxidation and crystallization of Fe22.5Al10Zr metallic glass has been studied in the temperature range 500–900 °C. A multi-stage crystallization process begins with the formation of α-Fe particles in the metallic glass matrix. The metallic glass is more resistant to oxidation below the crystallization temperature than crystalline specimens of the same composition.
