Abstract
Oxford Nanopore Technology (ONT) is one of the most promising long-read technologies able to produce ultra-long reads, which can overcome issues encountered with short reads, such as characterizing structural variants and highly repeated regions. ONT documents various bases and modifications of native DNA and RNA by detecting the changes in ionic current signals corresponding to the characteristics of each nucleotide passing through a nanopore. ONT enables researchers to explore plant genomes, transcriptomes, and epigenomes at an unprecedented resolution.
