Abstract

The initial rate of oxalate-facilitated Ca 2+ uptake by skeletal microsomes depends on both Ca 2+ and oxalate concentrations in the medium. The apparent K m for Ca 2+ increases with increasing oxalate concentration, indicating that Ca 2+ uptake can involve a carrier-mediated transport system.
