Abstract

This article explores problems related to the electrical supply of inverters for the own needs of mine engine. In such grids exist overvoltage with great energy leading to damage of mining locomotive's inverter for own power supply. For this reason, it is necessary to provide protection that restricts unacceptably high values of commutational overvoltages. The article proposes practical deals for protection from high-energy commutation overvoltages generated by the power supply line. The power supply line designed for mine locomotives has a time-changing electrical load and varying inductance. This is why the power supply line generated overvoltages with great energy and high voltage value are numerous. The electrical energy quality of the power supply line is assessed under real operating conditions. A simulation study was conducted to determine the duration of the switching overvoltages and its damping over time.
