Abstract
In this paper, we describe a Fortran programming environment using the KOAN Shared Virtual Memory on a distributed memory parallel architecture. We then discuss its use for parallelizing a Because benchmark application and present performance results. Initial findings show that it is possible to obtain good performance without the need for low level parallel programming.
