Abstract

The Global Report on Urban Health: Equitable, Healthier Cities forSustainable Development, issued in March 2016 by the World HealthOrganization and the United Nations Human SettlementsProgramme (UN-Habitat),emphasises the need for enhancedgovernance and leadership to achieve universal health coverage andthe Sustainable Development Goals. Noting that a healthypopulation forms the foundation for 'sustainable economic growth,social stability, and full realisation of human potential', the reportpresents 'practical, proven solutions for working across sectors totackle these … health challenges', and includes examples of suchsuccesses in South Africa.
