Abstract
Wound malodour can affect patients both socially and psychologically. The putrid odour is often misinterpreted as poor hygiene. It can induce constant nausea, resulting in lack of appetite, weight loss and lethargy, which all affect healing. In addition, practitioners have to manage the wound without reacting to the malodour to avoid offending or alarming the patient.
