Abstract

The Japanes iron and steel industry has expanded at a faster pace, withan output of 22, 000, 000 tons in 1960, 66, 000, 000 tons in 1968, and is expected to produce 103, 230, 000 tons in 1972. According, the demands for imported coal to meet those iron and seer requirements are estimated to be 41, 000, 000 tons in 1970, and 54, 000, 000 tons in 1972, assuming domestic coking coal products to be 11, 000, 000 tons.Coal demands growing in explained by data of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry.
