Abstract

The new estimate of Rh (represented by red lines) in Ciais et al (2020) is generally far smaller than that from the Trendy (16 out of 17) and the MsTMIP (8 out of 12) models as well as the ensemble means of all models (represented by blue dashed lines). The overestimated Rh in global land-carbon cycle models could possibly give rise to inaccurate simulations of soil carbon turnover, and the global land-atmospheric carbon exchange.
