Abstract

Currently low birth weight (LBW) mortality is a global leading cause of neonatal mortality, contributing to 60-70% of neonatal deaths. Low-middle income countries contribute the major portion of LBW globally, accounting for 18 million newborns, bearing an even higher burden because more than 50% of these newborns do not survive. Among others, one of the causes of high neonatal mortality in these countries is the weakness of the health care systems.
