Abstract

A radiographic cephalometric appraisal was made of certain tooth movements occurring in the treatment of deep-overbite cases utilizing the Begg and edgwise techniques. Emphasis was placed upon those tooth movements which appear to affect overbite correction. The four teeth selected for this investigation were the maxillary central incisor, the maxillary first molar, the mandibular central incisor, and the mandibular first molar. Standard planes of reference were constructed from which measurements of angular and linear tooth changes were made. In addition, superimposition was made upon the anterior cranial fossa to observe changes due to general facial growth, intramaxillary and intramandibular growth, and orthodontic treatment.
