Abstract

International standards for elections proceed from political rights and fundamental freedoms established by core legal instruments on human rights and political commitments. These provide a basis for the assessment of election processes by both international and domestic election observers. This paper shall thus discuss the level of compliance by the Nigerian electoral processes with international standards for elections through the lenses of the international legal instruments and international political commitments.
