Abstract

The ovarian serous cystadenofibroma is now established as a distinct oncologic entity with significant clinical and pathologic differences from the classic serous cystadenoma and the adenofibroma [ 11. It is predominantly benign and its typical gross and histologic features are most helpful to the pathologist when asked to perform an intraoperative quick section [l]. Frank adenocarcinoma with stromal invasion is unusual in this tumor [2-51. Likewise borderline malignancy, as defined by the World Health Organization Classification and Nomenclature of Ovarian Cancer [6], or epithelial atypia, as defined by Kao and Norris [7], rarely complicates this tumor [8,9] and only 10 cases have been recognized at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP) over a period of 18 years [73. Because of the rarity of this tumor, we would like to present two more cases with full pathologic documentation.
