Abstract

Cows were classified as having mild (n = 5) or moderate (n = 5) fatty liver. Moderately-affected cows had significantly higher total concentrations of PGFM in plasma during the early post-partum period (8700 v. 3100 pg; P < 0·05), a significantly shorter period to completion of uterine involution (24 v. 29 days; P < 0·05) and tended (not significant) to have shorter first oestrous cycles (16 v. 21 days; P = 0·08).
