Abstract

Seven presentations were named Outstanding Student Papers at the 1994 Ocean Sciences Meeting, San Diego, Calif.Tammi Richardson was honored for her presentation “Buoyancy Regulation and Vertical Movements of a Coastal Marine Diatom in a Laboratory Water Column.” Tammi is currently a Ph.D. student in the Department of Oceanography at Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia. She holds a B.S. with honors in biology (1986) and an M.S. in invertebrate zoology and biochemistry (1988) from the University of New Brunswick, Canada. Her research interests include buoyancy regulation by diatoms, physiology and biochemistry of marine algae in an ecological context, and molecular and biochemical aspects of marine photosynthesis.
