Abstract

This study compares minority and non-minority clients of a Small Business Development Center (SBDC) in the USA with respect to the assistance received and its perceived value. Results indicate that consulting services are equally accessible to both groups. Assistance needs are not related to the clients' racial or ethnic group and minorities perceive assistance received to be just as valuable as do non-minorities. The primary implication of this study is that special programmes aimed at specific groups may be largely unnecessary.
