Abstract

Wind power generation (WPG) is already an important power source in power systems. Whether the WPG will participate in the fast frequency response (FFR) is important to keep the frequency stability. However, the output power of WPG changes during the FFR. Accurately determining the power response of WPG is crucial for realizing the regulation goal of the frequency. A set of indices is proposed to determine the output power of the WPG participating in the FFR. Based on the proposed decision indices and the system frequency response model, the output power curve that a wind farm needs to provide under a specific frequency regulation goal can be quickly determined. The obtained output power curve provides a basis for adjusting the control parameters of wind turbine generators (WTGs) or determining the WTGs that should participate in the FFR. Finally, the case study verifies the output power decision indices proposed in this paper.
