Abstract

Outpatient parenteral anti-infective therapy (OPAT) involves the administration of intravenous anti-infectives outside ahospital setting. This shortens the inpatient stay and leads to areduction in treatment costs, fewer instances of nosocomial infections and enhanced quality of life for the patient.
