Abstract

Guest‐Editors Michael Hensel and Christian Hermansen Cordua reflect on four interrelated traits of current experimental practice that highlight the local: small size, locality, tectonics and experimentation/research. The objective is to provide an opening for further developments of the various trajectories of work that are featured in this issue, as well as for dedicated research. From this the contours of new ‘schools of thought’ can be seen to emerge, which render the notion of local architectures inherently pluralistic, thus transcending the perception that this type of work has to be bound by singular regional styles, types or identities.
