Abstract

Outdoor design conditions are one of the main parameter in designing HVAC systems. In this paper, according to the format recommended by American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air-Conditioning Engineers Inc. (ASHRAE), the outdoor design condition for selecting HVAC systems in the most important cities of Iran is presented. The data for selected locations (around 121 stations) derived from official weather station records. Outdoor design condition parameters for winter and summer are derived for 99% and 1% respectively. Other parameters including latitude, longitude, and elevation for each location are also presented. By using the standardized outdoor design condition, the heating and cooling energy consumption can be optimized. Results show unique climate of Iran as a multi-climate country with various kind of climates. This climate and consequent results are compared with neighbors' climate of Iran like Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and United Arab Emirates (UAE).
