Abstract

Background: Cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) is a complex intervention, particularly in patients with advanced pseudomyxoma of the peritoneum. Intra and post-operative bleeding are common and blood and blood products may be required to replace blood volume and control bleeding. Jehovah's Witness Patients with peritoneal malignancy, who for religious reasons, refuse blood or products, pose particular problems in complex interventions.
