Abstract

Background: As minimally invasive (MIS) approaches continue to advance within the field of hepato-pancreato-biliary (HPB) surgery, it is imperative to ensure that equivalent oncologic outcomes can be achieved as compared to open surgery. In the setting of left sided pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PDAC), limited long-term data is available regarding the oncologic outcomes of patients undergoing laparoscopic resection, particularly in patients necessitating multivisceral or vascular resection. The purpose of this study was to compare the oncologic outcomes of patients undergoing laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy (LDP) to open distal pancreatectomy (ODP for PDAC.
